Husk outlines commitment to gender equity and the 2X Global framework
FORT COLLINS, 14 Feb 2025 — Husk Power Systems (“Husk”) is committed to ensuring gender inclusivity and gender equity across its own operations and for its customers in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
In 2021, Husk joined as a partner in the UN Gender and Energy Compact, and adopted a corporate gender policy in 2023. The company is also working towards “best in class” certification under the 2X framework, a global industry standard for assessing and structuring investments that provide women with leadership opportunities.

- Increase the representation of women in senior management roles to 30% within the next 36 months, ensuring diverse and inclusive leadership.
- Gender-Centric Business Models and Customer Solutions
- Promote Women-Led Enterprises (WLEs) by providing access to clean, affordable energy, enabling financial independence and entrepreneurial success, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.
- Develop self-sustaining, gender-equity-driven initiatives that integrate into Husk’s core business strategies, ensuring long-term impact.
- Gender-Sensitive Workplace
- Integrate gender-specific considerations at the workplace to promote work-life balance and well-being of female employees.
i. Enhance employee well-being through initiatives such as company-sponsored transportation services for employees working during non-peak hours, ensuring safety and convenience.
ii. Foster a supportive workplace environment by introducing a one-day period leave policy each month for female employees.
iii. Establish the “SHE” (Support, Help, Empower) Buddy Program to provide a platform for women employees to raise concerns and access peer support.
iv. Maintain equitable recruitment and maternity leave policies, ensuring fair hiring practices and comprehensive support for working mothers.
v. Enforce gender equity initiatives, including balanced recruitment, leadership opportunities for women, anti-harassment policies, and gender sensitization training.
vi. Uphold a zero-tolerance policy against sexual harassment, backed by a dedicated Internal Complaints Committee and structured redressal processes to ensure a safe and respectful workplace.
